Daniel is an award-winning systems engineer with over 30 years of experience at the forefront of medical technology and defence innovation. He brings a proven track record of translating complex scientific concepts into commercially viable, life-saving hardware and software platforms.
Daniel began his career at Marconi Technologies (later BAE Systems) developing novel, high-precision components for high-frequency radar and communications systems. He subsequently joined University College London (UCL), leading the development of specialised technologies for diagnosing and treating neurological disorders. From 2014 to 2025 Daniel was a key engineering figure at OrganOx, where he helped pioneer normothermic organ perfusion systems. He played a central role in growing the business from an early University of Oxford spin-out into a £1.5 billion medical technology leader.
In 2025 Daniel was a leading member of the team awarded the prestigious MacRobert Award for UK Engineering Innovation. Known for managing multidisciplinary teams and fostering early-stage engineering start-ups, Daniel now leads Hillside Engineering Contractors, helping MedTech pioneers and research institutions take medical devices from initial concepts to clinical deployment. At Hillside Engineering, Daniel combines high-level systems architecture with hands-on technical execution.
Beyond commercial device consultancy, Hillside also builds and maintains precision laboratory equipment, directly enabling the basic research that underpins the next generation of medical product innovation.
